A well attended concert, in which the choir wowed the crowds with songs of love. It included some soloists and raised a total of £442 for the church funds. The choir presented their leader Jill with some flowers and commemorated their achievements with a witty well received poem which included comparing her piano playing to that is Les Dawson! | We hope you’ve enjoyed our concert tonight, And trust we’ve managed to pitch it just right, Songs of love were tonight’s theme And at our age some of us can only dream. We wish we could go back to when we were 64 When we had feeling in our fingers, toes and more! When we could taste the honey and get drunk on the wine, We’ve had music from The Beatles, & Gone with the wind, Gilbert O’Sullivan, Elvis and Lloyd Webber, Songs that will no doubt be around forever. We’ve had solos, duets and the odd little verse, For a couple of hours, it could’ve been worse Now I’ve said it before Jill, but we think you are awesome Especially when you play the piano like Les Dawson, Like our singing it sometimes brings tears to your eyes And in the immortal words of Morecambe and Wise We hit all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order. But joking apart, I hope you’ll agree We are now singing in much greater harmony, Its all down to you Jill for keeping us on track, Especially sorting out the three at the back!! So in appreciation for all your hard working hours We’d like to present you with this bouquet of flowers. By Nettie Neville |
