July coffee morning

5/7/2018

Although a few regular faces were missing, the morning was quite busy. It was in aid of Alzheimer's Society and around £114 was raised, which was very good. Pauline and Teresa talked in detail about the trials and tribulations of living with someone who has the disease and the devastating effect if can have on families. Valerie and Christine have been knitting some 'Twiddle Muffs'  which help people to have something to do with their hands. Pictured below these are normally sent to 'Knit for Peace' in London but they brought a few along for this morning. Users play with the beads and buttons inside and outside of the muffs, and it helps to relax them.
As usual Vince, Malcolm and Colin were on hand to help with the washing up!

We celebrate the ordination of our minister Farai

1/7/2018

Our minister Farai was ordained at the Chapel in Repton School. The five ordinands were accepted by the Methodist conference earlier in the day and at this service their calling was confirmed with prayers and the laying on of hands.
Farai promised to:

Preach the Gospel by word and deed.
To declare God's forgiveness to the penitent
To baptize and confirm
To celebrate Communion
To lead worship  and prayer
To minister Christ's love and compassion
To serve others
Farai has worked hard to fulfil this calling and was rather nervous. We were proud to be representing Nether Whitacre and supporting her at this special event.

Whitacre Congregation is a vibrant mix of young and old who enjoy meeting for Sunday worship. Do come and join us.
