Once again it was difficult to get a seat as the church was packed for our annual candlelit service. The service started with the now regular fire safety talk but then followed the a number of traditional carols and lessons interspersed with some more modern poems and readings. The highlight for many was the small children acting out a the innkeeper turning away Mary and Joseph whilst the animals sat around the manger.
The Flowers at the Altar of the church over our Christmas period have been placed there in memory of Pat Dicken. They have been arranged by her sister in law. She was a good friend to the church and will be greatly missed by many. Several people admired the flowers after the church carol service.
A busy evening with a good crowd out and about raising £215 for the Birmingham Christmas Shelter. Young and old sang lustily around the village and later retired to the Chapel for soup and a roll - by then to warm up after a cold and later little wet evening. Thanks to all those who sang and all those who listened and gave so generously. After the carol service the choir went up to "The Dog Inn" and sang to raise a further £97 which after some further donations means we will be sending off a total of £360 to the Birmingham Christmas Shelter.
