With a wet afternoon outside the Methodist hall was buzzing with activity. Children, parents and grandparents were busy creating Christmas cards, gift tags, banners amd sweets. In this digital age it was lovely to see the youngsters involved in traditional crafts. We were pleased to welcome some new children and hope they come again. Jacky read the children the Nativity stroy which lies at the heart of our beliefs. We hope out guests enjoyed themselves as much as we enjoyed haveing them. We wish everyone a happy Christmas and peaceful New Year. If you had ventured into the Chapel today you would have seen a happy hive of nineteen children and their parents as they created bunting, made decorated flip-flops, painted scallop shells, crafted colourful kites and fish. This all celebrated the holidays most of us have been lucky enough to enjoy. When the activities were complete Jacky read them some Bible stories whilst the hall was tidied for the sandwiches and cakes to be eaten.
We hope that our visitors enjoyed the occasion as much as we did. In this digital age it gave us pleasure to see the children using their creative imaginations and having a lot of fun in each others company. Our guests were extremely generous with their donations. We are grateful as the money will go towards craft materials for our Christmas Messy church. We hope very much that we shall see you then. Did you manage to get to Messy church in the Methodist hall? If you didn't you missed a treat. Sixteen children, their parents and grandparents created Easter banners, baskets and nests. It was a time of happy creativity. The children then listened to a story about Gus and his clean sheets while their tea was prepared. The sandwiches, cakes and biscuits were eaten with relish. We raised a generous donations for which we are most grateful. The next Messy Church will take place in the late summer and we hope that you will come along and join us then. What a busy day to start off the Christmas celebrations. You could have made everything from edible festive candles to candle Christmas cards, Santa stocking and star tree decorations. Twenty children joined what was a very busy afternoon which included a story with Rev Andi Smith followed by sandwiches and cakes. What did you miss?
